Offline Linux Installation

Windows:

Download the latest installer from the link on the documentation site:

http://doc.openalpr.com/watchman.html#windows

Linux:

OpenALPR is installed via APT. It's components are managed via deb packages which are usually pulled from our internet-hosted repository. If required, you can download these packages yourself and install them offline.

Note: We recommend doing this from a clean Ubuntu installation.  Docker or a VM is a great way to do it.  Using a clean install is preferred, because that will ensure that all possible package dependencies are retrieved and none are skipped.

To export OpenALPR packages, first run the install command to get the repo location:

bash <(curl https://deb.openalpr.com/install)

Executing task: install_agent

Installing OpenALPR Agent
Detected Operating System: Ubuntu Bionic
OpenALPR will execute the following commands to install the software

--------------------------------------------------------------------

curl -L https://deb.openalpr.com/openalpr.gpg.key | sudo apt-key add -
echo 'deb https://deb.openalpr.com/bionic/ bionic main' | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/openalpr.list
sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install -o apt::install-recommends=true -y openalpr openalpr-daemon openalpr-link
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -y -o Dir::Etc::sourcelist="sources.list.d/openalpr.list" -o Dir::Etc::sourceparts=- -o APT::Get::List-Cleanup=0-upgrade
sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/openalpr.list

--------------------------------------------------------------------

run the following commands (substituting the repo from the above command):

echo 'deb https://deb.openalpr.com/bionic/ bionic main' | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/openalpr.list

sudo apt-get clean && sudo apt-get -y --download-only install openalpr openalpr-daemon && mkdir /tmp/openalpr/ && cp /var/cache/apt/archives/*.deb /tmp/openalpr/ && echo "Download Complete. Dependences are available in /tmp/openalpr/"

The deb files are now located in /tmp/openalpr/.  You can copy these to a USB key, for example, and install offline.  Make sure you have an Ubuntu CD handy in case it needs to resolve other system dependencies.

To install:
cd [usb location] && sudo dpkg -i *.deb && sudo dpkg -f

Docker:

The official OpenALPR Docker images may also be saved offline using docker save and docker load
